Urban Bird Monitoring Program, Kathmandu Valley
24th Jan, 2016
Urban Bird Monitoring Program, Kathmandu Valley Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) is initiating Urban Bird Monitoring Program in Nepal as urban birds are declining day by day. It is a long term monitoring program. Urban bird count will be conducted four times in a year based on the seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn. First phase of the Urban Bird Monitoring Program will be conducted in Kathmandu valley and will be simultaneously conducted in other parts as well. Kathmandu valley is divided into three gradients: Rural, Sub urban and Urban. We have selected two grids of 1X1 km in each gradient in each direction (east, west, north and south). This is a piloting and volunteer based support program, like our Saturday Bird Watching Program, so we anticipate your support on counting the urban birds of the valley and other parts of Nepal. Team leaders for each site are listed below, please contact your nearby leaders and support us for counting and saving the urban birds of the valley.
