Can I get Nepal tourist visa on arrival?
Visa can be obtained upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport or any of the border checkpoints such as Kakarvitta, Bhairahawa, Birgunj, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki and so on for India – Nepal border and places such as Kodari for China – Nepal border. The Tribhuvan International Airport is the one and only International Airport in the country. Tourists who want to enter Nepal through flights can obtain their visa at the airport and for tourists who enter the country through other border checkpoints can get their visa there. As another option, visa can also be obtained at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission. Also, Department of Immigration; Kalikasthan, Kathmandu, issue visa along with renewal facilities. A valid passport and 1 clearly readable passport sized photo with a light background is required. However, Immigration department has not yet specified the size of passport-sized photo. For payment of the visa fee, one can only do it through cash in the following currency; Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong-Kong Dollar and Japanese Yen. Credit card, Indian Currency or Nepalese currency will not be accepted as payment. The rules for several categories of Visa are given as follows.

2. Gratis [free] Visa
- The first visit within one visa year [January to December] is free for 30 days only for citizens of South Asian countries such as Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Maldives and Sri Lanka. Additional extension of this visa can be done from Immigration department with payment as listed above
- Indian national do not need any kind of visa restrictions while entering the country

3. For Indian Nationals
As mentioned above, Indian nationals do need visa to enter Nepal. As per the regulations of Nepalese Immigration, Indian nationals who tend to enter Nepal must possess any one of the following documents except for visa. ü Passport ü Driving License with attached photograph ü Any identity card issued by a Government Agency ü Ration card with photo ü Election Commission Card with an attached photograph ü An identity card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu ü An identity card with an attached photograph issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrate or any other officials above this rank Note: For additional information please check the documents required by the Indian Immigration for Indians travelling into Nepal in your nearest travel agents.

4. Other Information
Citizens of other nationals such as Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan need to obtain visa either from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries, as they do not get their visa upon arrival at any of the immigration entry points of Nepal.
