FAQs

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a well-known, brief, and relatively easy trekking destination, with the duration of completion depending on the individual's physical and mental condition. This trek is particularly suitable for novice trekkers.

Typically, the journey from Pokhara takes around 3-4 days, although the duration may extend based on the company's itinerary and plans. Along the route, numerous guesthouses and restaurants offer opportunities to rest, enjoy tea and coffee, have meals, and find accommodations.

You have the option to either use a private vehicle or local buses to reach Birethati via Nayapul. From there, trek to Ulleri, where you can stay overnight. The next morning, continue your trek to Ghorepani. Alternatively, you may choose Tikhedhunga as your trek starting point and return via Ghandruk, passing through Tadapani.

While reaching the summit of Poon Hill directly by vehicle is not feasible, it is now possible to drive to Ghorepani. From there, you can hike to Poon Hill, a journey that can be completed in approximately an hour.

If you are a resident of Nepal, no additional permit is needed for trekking within the country. You only need a general entry pass at the trek checkpoint along the route. However, for international visitors, two permits are required, similar to the requirements for the Annapurna Sanctuary trek: the TIMS Card (Trekking Information Management System) and the ACAP permit (Annapurna Conservation Area Project).

As part of our package, the cost is 450 USD per person, covering the trek permit fee, arrangements for food and accommodation for 7 days, and private vehicle pickup and drop services. The overall cost may vary depending on the level of luxury you prefer.

The primary distinction between Annapurna and Poon Hill lies in the perspective: Annapurna offers a close-up view, while Poon Hill provides a panoramic view from a distance. Furthermore, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is somewhat more challenging than the Poon Hill Trek, with steeper and longer routes that pose the risk of altitude sickness due to the higher elevation of the Annapurna Base Camp.

Poon Hill stands at an elevation of 3210 meters.

The trek is relatively short, and the decision to hire a porter depends on the amount of luggage you carry. If you are familiar with the trek route from a previous visit, a guide may not be necessary. However, for enhanced support, we recommend both a guide and a porter for those who are less acquainted with the route.

Initially, transporting goods encounters challenges because the roads are not sustainable. Goods are transported by mules, yaks, and sometimes porters along the trail, resulting in charges exceeding the cost price.

This trek was an amazing adventure. There were spectacular views of lush green hills and jungles, waterfalls, as well as snow capped mountains. This area of Nepal is remarkably beautiful and alive with wildlife. We saw monkeys in the jungle. Our guide, Mr. Lakpa Sherpa and porters Pasang and Uttam were fantastic. Lakpa was able to anticipate my every need. He was very caring and very careful. He even held my hand on difficult downhill descents. He was also very knowledgeable and was able to point out interesting sites and name the different mountain peaks. The food and accommodations during the trek were much better than I had anticipated. Every aspect of the trek was handled very professionally. I highly recommend Actual Adventures and especially would like to thank Lakpa, for all his effort to make this such a wonderful experience.

Hike to Poon Hill at Chrismas time 2018 ! It’s impossible to visit Nepal without undertaking a trek to one of its peaks or mountain towns. A popular one is the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, which takes the dauntless from small villages and campsites and through stunning lands, and this four-day hike will reward you with beautiful sunrise views of the Himalayas. A very enjoyable trek. Poon hill was my first ever trek and at times I found the steps challenging but that's what makes this trip that more rewarding. "Actual Adventure" made my time in Nepal very memorable and their hospitality was so great I will not forget it.

Ghorepani Poonhill trek 2017 I recently went solo on this trek and used Actual Adventure as my travel agent to handle the arrangements. They did excellent job, Kedar, Director, was very helpful. My guide, Bikram was excellent. I will recommend to any one they wish to engage him for their services getting into the lives of the Gurung people there and knowing about their culture becomes one of the most interesting parts of the trek.He also supplied me with a trekking pole for my trip and helped me pick out the gear I needed for the trek regards Regards  David Morganton, North Carolina

“Great Poonhill circuit trek ” from Actual Adventure was a great companion and guide. He planned the itinerary according to my time limits and in such a way that not one day seemed too taxing. He was always conscious of what I wanted and shared his experience. I really enjoyed his insight into the culture and landscape along the way. Thanks Binod!   Regards      Angelique Tanya Meyer City in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Our trip to Ghorepani/ Poon hill was absolutely amazing. Kedar, keshab- our guide and Puru our porters were so helpful, kind and informative. Our plans had to change last minute due to weather and the transition was absolutely stressed free. We loved every minute and can’t wait to get back to Nepal. June ,2013

6 Days Ghorepani Poonhill Trek Namaste Dear Kedar and his wonderful team I have never known Nepal has so much to offer spiritually, culturally, environmentally and visually. I have spent 6 wonderful days trekking alongside beautiful villages with amazing mountains views. It has been a pleasure doing the trek package with your company and your team as a solo female visitor.  You helped me choosing my package online via Skype and gave me a good student price also. The promises are kept as described, hotels were good with internet and location, food was also good. To checked how I am going with the trip along the way via phone calls which was also nice. I definitely recommend others  to do trekking tours with your company as it is professionally and friendly run, I will hopefully come back soon to cover the Everest region and send some friend to Nepal from Turkey & Australia . I wish you and your team all the best. I support with all my heart the locally run good business in Nepal. I also like to specially thank my porter-guide Binod for being a friend, talking with me about his culture, being patient and understanding along the way and always being Smiley an... See more d helpful. I hope to see his wedding invitation and photos soon… Best Regards Mer ve Hosgelen Turkey now in Australia March 24, 2013 Mer ve Hosgelen Turkey now in Australia See less...

Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking “I arrived in Nepal as a lone traveler and with no experience of Nepal or the surrounding areas. Kedar and his team at Actual Adventure took complete care of me from the moment I arrived at the airport, through to the hotel transfers and trek. Overall I found the trip to be an amazing experience, the temples and markets in Thamel were fascinating, as were the scenic views and pretty tea houses in Annapurna. I would like to thank Kedar and Bikram in particular for providing an excellent guide service that was not only great value for money but informative and helpful too. I would highly recommend Actual Adventures as they provided an amazing service, both prior to and during the trip.”     Current :UAE Kelly King London UK
