Mount Everest (8,848.86 m)

Mount Everest, known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan, stands as the highest mountain on Earth.Situated on the border between Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, its elevation was jointly declared by China and Nepal in 2020 as 8,848.86 meters (29,031.69 feet) . The mountain has been a magnet for climbers worldwide since Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's first successful ascent in 1953. However, it presents significant challenges, including extreme weather conditions, high altitude, and the notorious Khumbu Icefall, making it a perilous endeavor for mountaineers .

K2 (8,611 m)

K2, also known as Mount Godwin-Austen, is the second-highest mountain globally, towering at 8,611 meters (28,251 feet). Located in the Karakoram range, it straddles the border between Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan and China's Xinjiang region . Renowned for its steep ascents and severe weather, K2 is often deemed more challenging to climb than Everest, earning nicknames like "Savage Mountain.


Kangchenjunga (8,586 m)

Kangchenjunga, the third-highest mountain at 8,586 meters (28,169 feet), lies on the border between Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim. Part of the Kangchenjunga Himal section of the Himalayas, it's revered in local cultures and was once considered the world's highest peak until 1852 


Manaslu (8,163 m)

Manaslu, meaning "Mountain of the Spirit," is the eighth-highest peak at 8,163 meters (26,781 feet). Situated in Nepal's Gorkha District, it was first ascended in 1956 by a Japanese expedition. The mountain is known for its long ridges and valley glaciers, offering various climbing routes. The surrounding Manaslu Conservation Area is rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage 

Nanga Parbat (8,126 m)

Nanga Parbat, translating to "Naked Mountain," stands at 8,126 meters (26,660 feet) and is the ninth-highest mountain globally. Located in Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan, it's the western anchor of the Himalayas. Known as the "Killer Mountain," it has a notorious reputation due to numerous climbing fatalities, attributed to its challenging terrain and severe weather conditions .


Tirich Mir (7,690 m)

Tirich Mir is the highest peak in the Hindu Kush range, reaching 7,690 meters (25,230 feet). Situated in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the Afghan border, it's notable for its dramatic rise above the surrounding terrain and the Upper Tirich Glacier basin 


Mount Gongga (7,509 m)

Also known as Minya Konka, Mount Gongga is the highest mountain in China's Sichuan province, standing at 7,509 meters (24,636 feet). It's the third-highest peak outside the Himalaya/Karakoram ranges and is renowned for its challenging climbing conditions and significant vertical relief 


Namcha Barwa (7,782 m)

Namcha Barwa, at 7,782 meters (25,531 feet), is the highest peak in the Namcha Barwa Himal range in southeastern Tibet. It's considered the eastern anchor of the Himalayas and is known for its remote location and dramatic topography.


Batura Sar (7,795 m)

Batura Sar, also known as Batura I, is the 25th-highest mountain globally at 7,795 meters (25,574 feet). Located in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, it's the highest peak of the Batura Muztagh, the westernmost subrange of the Karakoram range .


Lhotse (8,516 m)

Lhotse, the fourth-highest mountain at 8,516 meters (27,940 feet), is connected to Mount Everest via the South Col. It's renowned for its dramatic south face, one of the steepest in the world, presenting significant challenges to climbers.


Cho Oyu (8,201 m)

Cho Oyu, meaning "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan, stands at 8,201 meters (26,906 feet), making it the sixth-highest mountain. Located on the Nepal-Tibet border, it's considered one of the more accessible eight-thousanders, attracting many climbers 


Makalu (8,463 m)

Makalu, the fifth-highest mountain at 8,463 meters (27,766 feet), is situated 19 km southeast of Mount Everest on the Nepal-Tibet border. Known for its pyramid-shaped peak, it presents a formidable challenge due to its steep pitches and knife-edged ridges. In May 2025, climber Alex Pancoe tragically passed away during an expedition on Makalu, highlighting the mountain's dangers .


Kongur Tagh (7,649 m)

Kongur Tagh, at 7,649 meters (25,095 feet), is the highest mountain in the Pamir range and the tallest outside the Himalaya-Karakoram system. Located in China's Xinjiang region, it's notable for its prominence and isolation.


Ismoil Somoni Peak (7,495 m)

Formerly known as Peak Communism, Ismoil Somoni Peak is the highest mountain in Tajikistan, standing at 7,495 meters (24,590 feet). It's part of the Pamir range and was the tallest peak in the former Soviet Union .


Gangkhar Puensum (7,570 m)

Gangkhar Puensum, at 7,570 meters (24,836 feet), is the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. Located on the border between Bhutan and China, climbing has been prohibited since 2003 due to spiritual beliefs and border disputes

Nanda Devi (7,816 m)

Nanda Devi, the second-highest mountain in India at 7,816 meters (25,643 feet), is located in the state of Uttarakhand.The surrounding Nanda Devi National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, noted for its unique flora and fauna.


Jengish Chokusu (7,439 m)

Also known as Victory Peak, Jengish Chokusu is the highest mountain in the Tian Shan range, standing at 7,439 meters (24,406 feet). It lies on the border between Kyrgyzstan and China and is known for its challenging climbing conditions.


Shishapangma (8,013 m)

Shishapangma, at 8,013 meters (26,289 feet), is the 14th-highest mountain globally and the only eight-thousander entirely within Tibet. It's considered one of the more accessible peaks over 8,000 meters, though it still poses significant risks.


Gyala Peri (7,294 m)

Gyala Peri, standing at 7,294 meters (23,930 feet), is located in the eastern Himalayas of Tibet. It's notable for its steep rise above the Tsangpo Gorge and remains one of the less-climbed major peaks.
